X2go Mac

About the App

X2Go enables you to access a graphical desktop of a computer over a low bandwidth (or high bandwidth) connection. Multiple users/clients can access a single X2Go Server at the same time, with each user/client having an individual desktop session by default. Sample Settings Screen. Make sure 'X11 application' is set to the location of XQuartz; click on the blue 'folder' icon at the right of the location box to browse to XQuartz (if necessary). For Windows or Mac, download the X2Go client from the X2Go Download Page. For Linux, follow the instructions on the X2Go Installation page. When you start x2go for the first time, it will pop-up a Session Preferences window. Fill in the Session Name with a name for our server that you will remember such as “Shellx”.

X2Go is an open source remote desktop software for Linux that uses a modified NX 3 protocol.[5] X2Go gives remote access to a Linux system's graphical user interface. It can also be used to access Windows systems through a proxy.[6]

Client packages can be run on FreeBSD, Linux, OS X, or Windows.[7] Some Linux desktop environments require workarounds for compatibility, while some such as GNOME 3.12 and later may have no workarounds. Desktop environments that are always compatible with X2Go, without any workarounds, are XFCE, LXDE and MATE.[8]

The server package must be installed on a Linux host.

The X2go project has been packaged for Fedora beginning with version F20 (2013).[9]

It is also included in the official Ubuntu release starting from 17.04 and Debian Wheezy releases.[10]
